Events

Creating closer connections with our community

Hosting a diverse range of wholesome, intergenerational events that cultivate expression, empowerment and collaborative community enrichment.

After Earthwork Harvest Gathering was brought to completion in 2024, the Bernard Family went through a year of succession planning, charting out a vision for the future of the farm as a center for community building and education.

Music and Arts

A series of ticketed concerts featuring regional and national touring acts will be held in partnership with Ground Control Touring. The farm will also host artist residencies and specialized retreats, such as writers’ retreats led by best-selling authors and a Film Fest + Art Show in the barn.

Education and Youth Empowerment

The Earthwork Farm School will allow local children to learn valuable life skills, including music-making and food production, from professional educators. Other youth-focused events include the Rock and Jock arts and athletics summit and a summer day camp in collaboration with Lake City Area Schools.

Skill-Sharing and Self-Reliance

The beloved Skill Swap will return, offering a full day of workshops dedicated to community resilience and self-reliance, followed by a farm-to-table dinner and a barn dance.

Community and Wellness

To foster multigenerational connection, the farm will host monthly Senior Nights in partnership with Hospice of Michigan, a Digital Detox weekend to encourage off-device communion with the land, and various health-based retreats.

Seasonal and Cultural Celebrations

Future calendars include a Maple Syrup Social in early spring, an Earth Day gathering, the Juneteenth Film Festival, and a Honeybee Social celebrating the honey harvest.

Family Gatherings

The Earthwork Family Weekend will return as a staple event, providing a dedicated space for families to engage with the land through arts and ecology.

Upcoming events

Rentals

In addition to these scheduled events, the farm will offer year-round rentals for the yurt and “house on the hill,” as well as 12 reserved campsites for event attendees.

Farm Store

The newly established DIY farm store will also be open to the public, selling farm-produced goods like maple syrup, infused honey, and handcrafted items from the on-site sawmill.

Earthwork Harvest Gathering

Since 2001, our family has welcomed folks onto the land for a three day cultural celebration. We are so grateful for the blessings that it has brought and so proud of what we have done together.
